| CMF-4332 - This tooth has a good "silhouette" but has some damage to the display side caused by stress cracking during the fossilization process. Serrations are evident on about 1/2 of the blade edges. The root is in excellent condition. There is some enamel and dentin loss. This is one of these teeth best displayed from the flat side. |

| CMJ-6347 - Highly phosphatized tooth from the Morgan River in South Carolina. The display side and flat side appear to have significant enamel loss but in fact this is just a strange, black coloration to the enamel. There is some enamel and dentin loss on the display side, center. The blade edges, tip and root are in remarkably good shape for a tooth this size. |

| CMN-8617 - If you try to pick this tooth up by the blade edges, the weight and sharp serrations will quickly convince you to try another approach. The root and tip are outstanding. There are only a few missing serrations, one down by the tip. The enamel peel was caused by hydration stress cracking during the fossilization process which happened about 5 million years ago. The enamel is now completely stable. |

| CMX-9662 - The little "root nibs" at the bottom, outside edge of
the root lobes and general tooth shape tell us that this tooth is from one of
the last of the megalodons before extinction. This
animal lived during the Pliocene (2 to 5 MYA). The
serrations were "evolving out" and were not very
pronounced during the last few million years of this
animal's existence. They are worn in spots
from 40% to 60%. (See 10X Microscope Edge View.)
The tip is very clean and only slightly rounded which
is very unusual for this size tooth. The bourrelet is
99% complete which is also very rare for the size.
There is a small right hand, display side root crack
that does not go through the tooth and is completely stable. |

CMX7INCH - EXCEPTIONALLY RARE, 7" tooth from the Cooper River, SC. Found by divers in the mid 1990's. There are very likely only about sixteen, 7 inch teeth ever found. We know of only one other tooth that was a natural 7" tooth when found. It sold for $10,000 in the mid 90's. It was in ragged shape and has in all likelihood been restored by now. Many of the other teeth were 6" teeth that were restored to bring them back to a 7"+ slant height. This tooth is heavily phosphatized. Heavily phosphatized teeth will "ring" like fine crystal when balanced in the center and tapped with a fingernail.
This tooth a very unique tooth because:
It is a FIRST LATERAL.
It is PATHOLOGICAL.
Its HUGE, UNRESTORED, NATURAL size.
Its weight.
Its phosphatization.
Its coloration.
There is absolutely no restoration whatsoever. |

CMU7842R - VERY RARE, 7 1/8" tooth from South Carolina. There are very likely only about a dozen and a half, 7 inch teeth ever found. The 7.5" tooth in the museum in Lima, Peru, reportedly has been stolen and replaced by a reproduction.
This tooth is a second ANTERIOR from the left side of the upper jaw. It is beautifully Mottled. There is some restoration to the root and one small section of a blade edge. This tooth is also Deformed. The small area of deformity on the right-hand blade edge was likely caused by a prey bone splinter or fin, a sting ray barb or a shed tooth while this tooth was still being formed. |

CMU7843R - VERY RARE, 7.56" tooth from the Cooper River. Found by divers in the late 1980's. There are very likely only about a dozen and a half, 7 inch teeth ever found. We know of only 2 other teeth that are 7 1/2" or larger. All have been restored. There is a 7.62 tooth in a private collection in New England. The 7.5" tooth tooth in the museum in Lima, Peru, reportedly has been stolen and replaced by a reproduction. This tooth is one of the 3 largest teeth Carcharocles megalodon in the world, and is very likely the second largest ever found.
This tooth is a first LATERAL. It is also FANGED. These characteristics along with its size make this a very special tooth.
There is some restoration in the middle section of the display-side root, the right-hand blade edge and the flat side of the tip. Interestingly, the restorer could have added another 1/4" to the tip and the proportions of the tooth would have been more accurate. |
