The occurrence and prevalence of the Pyrite Inclusions can be divided into 4 groups as follows:

 

I. PYRITE CLUSTERS

The pyrite is in large groupings or prominent bands in the underlying dentin.

II. PYRITE RIVULETS

The pyrite in discrete flows or rivulets in the underlying dentin.

III. PYRITE SPECKLES

Individual speckles of pyrite are fairly prominent in the polished dentin.

IV. PYRITE PINPOINTS

Pinpoints of pyrite are present, but not prominent.
