Fossilized Shark Teeth on the Internet

Investment Grade Selection Process

Here is how these "Investment Grade" teeth are selected:

1.)   We receive a package of 1,534 teeth from Sacaco, Peru.

2.)   The teeth are separated by species.

3.)   There are 874 Great Whites.

4.)   The Great Whites are separated by size:

                a.)   Less than 2.00"
                b.)   Greater than 2.00"

5.)   The 2"+ teeth are sorted by:

a.)   Complete root -- Chipped root
b.)   Clean tip -- Rounded tip
c.)   Complete enamel -- Enamel peel
d.)   Excellent, serrated edge -- Worn serrations

6.)   The teeth with the complete roots, clean tips, complete enamel and clean serrations are sorted for unusual coloration.

7.)   The unusually colored teeth are then sorted according to enamel shine - Dull, Shiny, Exceptional Shine.

Out of 874 teeth, 7 remain as EXCEPTIONAL in size and quality.  This is less than 1% of the batch of teeth.  These teeth are Great Whites (Carcharodon carcharias) from 2" to 2.48".  They unusually colored with complete roots; complete, exceptionally shiny enamel; sharp tips and clean serrations.  The 867 rejected teeth are packaged for commercial sale or wholesale to our dealers.
