Notidanodon Shark Teeth (Monster Cow Shark)

This animal was one of the early 6 gilled Cow Sharks in the Order - Hexanchiformes. (Most sharks have 5 gills.) They were ancestors of the Hexanchus and Notorynchus Family of sharks that patrol the earth's oceans today. They were much bigger than their descendents and lived during the Palaeocene Epoch (65 to 55 MYA). These teeth are VERY RARE - about a dozen a year are being found.
In the first image below a Notidanodon tooth is shown with a much smaller, common Hexanchus tooth. The second image shows some of the teeth we have for sale.
