The fully serrated megalodon shark teeth on this page have IRON PYRITE (Fool's Gold, ferrous sulfide or iron disulfide [FeS2]) inclusions that formed in the underlying dentin during the 15,000 year long fossilization process. The display side enamel has been laboriously polished to show these beautiful gold and silver crystals.
In order to show the pyrite, the individual photographs were carefully taken to avoid reflecting light on the polished surface. The beautiful reflective surface quality can easily be appreciated in the photograph above.
